QUETTA: Balochistan Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammad Tahir has stated that police and journalists stand “shoulder to shoulder,” emphasizing the media’s critical role in identifying and solving social problems. He made these remarks during a reception held at the Central Police Office on Wednesday to honor senior journalists.
IGP Tahir praised the journalist community for highlighting issues that are often overlooked. “The positive approach of journalists discourages misguided elements in society,” he said, acknowledging that the media’s constructive role is indispensable for building a better society.
The event, hosted under the leadership of newly elected Quetta Press Club President, Irfan Saeed, also served as an opportunity for the IGP to formally congratulate Mr. Saeed on his election. The IGP expressed hope that the journalist community would continue to offer positive suggestions and criticism to foster social reform and provincial development.
The reception was also attended by the IGP’s Media Coordinator, Ms. Rabia Tariq, signaling the department’s commitment to maintaining a collaborative relationship with the press.

Last week Inspector General of Police (IGP) Balochistan, Muhammad Tahir, reaffirmed the police’s unwavering commitment to law enforcement and peace during a ceremony held in Khuzdar, stating that the forces they are confronting “may have deep roots, but we are determined to uproot them completely” .
Addressing police officers and young personnel, IGP Tahir emphasized that Balochistan is a “bouquet of diverse nations,” whose beauty lies in upholding the rule of law. He highlighted that maintaining order is the top priority of the police, as peace is the fundamental demand of the people and the foundation of development for every progressive nation .
The police chief’s remarks come at a time when security forces in the province continue to face significant challenges. His speech honored the “great sacrifices” made by the people of Balochistan for peace, describing the history written by martyrs as “truly commendable” .
IGP Tahir also outlined a forward-looking strategy, urging officers to explore more opportunities for public service. He announced that the government has decided to enhance the capacity and efficiency of the police department by providing necessary resources to every region, with special attention given to training and technology .
