IG Tahir vows sustained war on crime across Balochistan

QUETTA: Inspector General (IG) of Police Balochistan, Muhammad Tahir, has declared that the protection of citizens’ lives and property is the paramount mission of the police force. To fulfill this commitment, the police have launched a series of effective and coordinated operations against criminal elements across all ranges of the province, yielding significant results over the past week.

Under the special directives of IG Muhammad Tahir, these targeted operations have been intensified in various districts. The crackdown focuses on a wide spectrum of criminals, including wanted and absconding individuals, proclaimed offenders, bike snatchers, drug dealers, and those involved in the illegal stockpiling of weapons and ammunition. The police’s robust action has led to the apprehension of numerous suspects linked to various criminal incidents, with investigations now underway.

The operations have proven particularly successful in apprehending key suspects involved in serious crimes, including murder and attempted murder cases. Alongside the arrests, the police have also seized weapons, ammunition, and other prohibited items from the possession of the detained individuals, disrupting several criminal networks.

IG Muhammad Tahir reaffirmed the department’s unwavering resolve, stating that Balochistan Police are deploying all available resources to establish a peaceful and crime-free environment for the public. He emphasized that this intensified campaign is not a temporary measure but a sustained effort that will continue until the complete eradication of criminal activities from the province. The recent successes underscore the police’s heightened vigilance and their strategic approach to restoring law and order.

Meanwhile Customs Department in Quetta has seized crystal ice worth Rs 136.6 million during a major anti-smuggling operation.

According to the FBR Headquarters, the Field Enforcement Unit (FEU) Nuttal of the Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement) Quetta successfully foiled a large attempt to smuggle narcotics, recovering methamphetamine (crystal ice) valued at over Rs 136.6 million.

Acting on verified intelligence, customs officials stopped a passenger vehicle and recovered 2 kilograms of crystal ice (methamphetamine) hidden inside a bag.

Officials said the suspect was arrested on the spot, and legal proceedings have begun under the Customs Act of 1969.
