LAKKI MARWAT: A blast hit a private factory bus in Nawarda Khel area of Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killing one person and injuring nine, police said.
The bus was carrying workers to a cement factory when the explosion occurred on Bogukhel Road.
Two women were among the injured.
District police spokesman Qudratullah said militants linked to Fitna al-Khawarij targeted the vehicle.
The term refers to terrorists associated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), according to the state.
Police rushed the injured to a nearby hospital.
Doctors said two victims remain in critical condition.
Authorities launched an investigation and tightened security in the area.
They also began a search operation.
Pakistan has seen a sharp rise in militant violence in 2025 despite record militant fatalities.
Terror attacks rose 34% year-on-year, while related deaths increased 21%.
Authorities recorded 699 attacks nationwide during the year.
Data from the Islamabad-based Pak Institute for Peace Studies showed at least 1,034 people killed and 1,366 injured.
The figures reflect a growing militant trend since the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021.

On Sunday, gunmen killed four police officers, including three traffic police personnel, in Lakki Marwat and Bannu districts.
