QUETTA: The School Education Department, Government of Balochistan, and the Institute for Development Studies and Practices (IDSP), University of Community Development, FKI, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) this week to formally launch the “Adopt a School” initiative aimed at improving the condition and performance of government schools across the province.
In this regard, the signing ceremony took place at the Minister’s Office in the Secretariat, Quetta, and was attended by senior officials, including Provincial Education Minister Ms. Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani and Secretary Education Asfandyar Khan.
In this sense, both leaders welcomed the partnership, focusing on its potential to support long-term educational reforms, improve learning spaces, and encourage community engagement in public education.
Furthermore, IDSP will collaborate closely with the School Education Department to increase school infrastructure, promote innovative learning practices, and extend support to underserved areas.
The initiative aims to uplift government schools by introducing improved facilities, modern learning tools, and community-centered management approaches.
Moreover, IDSP representatives showcased the organization’s recent contributions to flood-affected regions.
These efforts include the installation of solar systems to ensure uninterrupted electricity, the rehabilitation of damaged school buildings, and the continuation of the Girls Education Support Program, which works to expand learning opportunities for young girls in remote areas.
The Education Minister Durrani mentioned that the partnership indicates the government’s commitment to advancing quality education in Balochistan. She said the initiative will help strengthen school facilities and create new avenues for educational development across the province.
The MoU indicates an important achievement for both institutions as they work toward their shared vision of delivering accessible, equitable, and high-quality education.
On the other hand, Balochistan has started rolling out high-speed internet in schools and government offices.
The partnership is expected to play a crucial role in promoting sustainable development, improving community-school relations, and supporting long-term educational progress in Balochistan.
