DUBAI: ICC Imposes Fine on Indian Fast Bowler Arshdeep Singh for Code of Conduct Breach
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has imposed a fine on Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh for violating the ICC Code of Conduct.
Arshdeep Singh was penalized with a 15% match fee fine for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Final between India and New Zealand, played in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
The Indian fast bowler was found guilty of breaching Article 2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which relates to throwing the ball (or any other cricket equipment) in an inappropriate or dangerous manner towards a player during an international match.
The incident occurred during the 11th over of New Zealand’s innings, when Arshdeep Singh, while fielding in the follow-through, threw the ball aggressively and inappropriately, hitting New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell on the pads.
According to the ICC, one demerit point has also been added to Arshdeep Singh’s disciplinary record. This is his first offence within the 24-month period.
The ICC stated that Arshdeep Singh accepted the sanction proposed by the match referee, and therefore no formal hearing was required.
