ABU DHABI: The Ministry of Defence has announced that the country’s air defense system remains fully operational and has successfully intercepted the majority of ballistic missiles and drones launched from Iran in recent attacks.
The ministry said that nine ballistic missiles fired toward the United Arab Emirates were shot down. In addition, six cruise missiles and 148 drones were destroyed before reaching their intended targets.
The statement focused on that the armed forces acted swiftly and effectively to neutralize the incoming threats.
In this regard, a total of 174 ballistic missiles have been launched toward the UAE from Iran during the recent escalation. Of these, 161 were successfully intercepted and destroyed by the country’s defense systems, while 13 missiles fell into the sea without causing damage.
The ministry further reported that 689 drones were sent toward the UAE. Air defense units intercepted 645 of them, while 44 drones fell within the country’s territory.
The Ministry of Defence confirmed casualties resulting from the attacks. Three individuals were killed and 68 others were injured. The statement did not disclose the identities of the victims but expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and wished a swift recovery to the injured.
The ministry reassured residents and the international community that the UAE’s defense infrastructure is functioning at full capacity and that all necessary measures are being taken to safeguard national security and public safety.
The situation remains under close monitoring as authorities maintain heightened alertness amid ongoing regional tensions.
