Hot weather expected in most parts of Balochistan

QUETTA: The Regional Meteorological Centre Balochistan has issued a weekend weather advisory, forecasting hot and dry conditions across most parts of the province.

The temperatures are expected to rise sharply, particularly in southern and central Balochistan, with extreme heat likely to affect daily life and increase the risk of heat-related health concerns. Nokkundi recorded the highest temperature in the province over the past 24 hours at a scorching 44.5°C.

In this sense, despite the heatwave, the Met Office has also predicted heavy rainfall in several regions including Barkhan, Sibi, Kohlu, Musa Khel, Loralai, Dera Bugti, Usta Muhammad, Jafarabad, Sohbatpur, Jhal Magsi, Nasirabad, Kalat, Khuzdar, Awaran, Hub, and Lasbela.

These districts are urged to prepare for possible flash flooding, waterlogging, and disruptions in transportation and communication.

So far, recent weather activity has already brought showers to some areas. Khuzdar received 10.9 mm of rain during the last 24 hours, while Barkhan experienced light rainfall.

The meteorological department has advised residents, particularly those living in vulnerable or low-lying areas, to remain alert and take precautionary measures.

Furthermore, emergency services, local administrations, and disaster response teams have also been advised to remain on standby in regions where heavy rainfall is anticipated, to swiftly respond to any adverse developments.
