Over the past five years, Punjab province in Pakistan has witnessed a persistently high and generally rising toll from road accidents, as reported primarily through Rescue 1122 emergency service data.
In 2023, approximately 420,000 road traffic crashes occurred, resulting in around 3,967 fatalities.
The following year, 2024, saw an increase to about 468,000 accidents, claiming roughly 4,139 lives.
This upward trend intensified in 2025, with nearly 483,000 incidents recorded, leading to 4,791 deaths, a notable 19 percent rise in fatalities compared to the previous yea, along with close to 570,000 people injured.
These figures highlight the severe and worsening road safety crisis in the province, where motorcyclists remain among the most vulnerable groups, and frequent accidents continue to affect families and communities across urban and rural areas alike.
Among the five deceased are two minors.
As soon as the incident was reported, multiple rescue vehicles and personnel from Rescue 1122 Sialkot rushed to the scene.
Rescue teams are currently providing first aid to the injured, shifting the bodies, and carrying out relief operations.
Sources say the deceased belonged to the same family.
An investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the accident.
