MASTUNG: In yet another harrowing incident of honour killings in Balochistan was reported after a married couple was brutally murdered years after tying the knot through a court marriage.

The incident occurred in the Lakpass area near Quetta, where the couple had travelled on the invitation of the woman’s family.

According to Levies officials, Muhammad Shoaib, a resident of Panjgur, had married the woman of his choice through court marriage seven years ago. After years of estrangement, a reconciliation had recently taken place between Shoaib and his in-laws.

As part of this apparent truce, the woman’s brothers invited the couple to Quetta under the pretext of a family gathering. Shoaib, accompanied by his wife and brother, travelled from Panjgur to the provincial capital and checked into a hotel near Lakpass.

However, in a tragic turn of events, the woman’s brothers allegedly traced their location, contacted them by phone, and then arrived at the hotel. They reportedly shot and killed both Shoaib and his sister before fleeing the scene.
