QUETTA: In the past 12 hours, two tragic incidents of so-called “Karo-Kari” (honor killings) have been reported in Balochistan, leaving four people dead, including two women.
According to Levies officials, the first incident took place last night in Zehri tehsil of Khuzdar district.
A man, suspecting his wife of alleged infidelity, shot and killed her, along with another man he accused of having illicit relations with her.
The suspect managed to escape after the crime, while Levies filed a case and launched an investigation.
The second incident occurred in a village near Bhag in Bolan district, where Ahmad Khan of the Hala tribe fatally shot his wife Rabia and another man, Muhammad Asif, son of Fazal, also from the Hala tribe.
The accused fled the scene, and Bhag Levies have initiated inquiries into the double murder.
Women’s rights groups, including Aurat Foundation and the EVAWG Alliance, have strongly condemned these shocking killings.
They expressed deep concern over the rising trend of brutal violence against women and girls in Balochistan, stating that such acts not only violate human values and social protection but also contradict the state’s claims of safeguarding women.
The organizations highlighted that in recent days, disturbing cases have surfaced in Khuzdar, Bhag, Mastung, Usta Muhammad, Sariab, Khrotabad, and other regions.
These include honor-related murders of wives, the strangulation of young girls, fathers allegedly assaulting their daughters, and the killing of innocent girls by close relatives through deceit. They described these cases as a horrifying and painful reflection of the province’s worsening situation.
