ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad administration has announced a public holiday across the federal capital on Thursday, April 9 and Friday, April 10, 2026, due to the upcoming direct negotiations between Iran and the United States in Islamabad.
The District Commissioner (DC) Islamabad has also confirmed the holiday via a tweet.
According to the official notification, all government and private offices will remain closed on these two days.
However, essential services have been exempted and will continue to operate normally.
The following departments will remain open and fully functional:
- Islamabad Police
- IESCO (Electricity)
- Sui Northern Gas
- All hospitals and emergency services
Meanwhile, MCI, CDA, and ICT Administration will also continue working as usual.
The government has taken this decision to facilitate the important diplomatic talks while ensuring public services are not disrupted.
