HEC announces LLM and PhD Scholarships for talented students from Balochistan

ISLAMABAD: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has announced a new scholarship program for talented students from Balochistan, offering opportunities to pursue LLM and PhD degrees in Pakistan and abroad.

In this regard, the scholarships will be awarded to students holding a valid domicile and local certificate of Balochistan. In this sense, students will be able to pursue LLM studies in recognized Pakistani universities, as well as LLM and PhD programs at approved foreign institutions.

The scholarships are part of the commission’s broader efforts to promote academic excellence and address regional disparities in access to higher education.

Furthermore, the commission has also outlined clear eligibility criteria for applicants. For LLM scholarships, the upper age limit has been set at 30 years, while candidates applying for PhD scholarships must not be older than 35 years at the time of application.

In addition to academic qualifications, candidates must have obtained at least 50 percent marks in their relevant degrees. Moreover, securing a minimum of 50 percent marks in the required aptitude test is compulsory for eligibility.

The HEC has focused on the fact that only complete applications meeting all criteria will be considered. However, the deadline for submission of scholarship applications has been set for January 13, 2026.

Meanwhile, the Higher Education Commission has also released the schedule for the Law Admission Test (LAT), which is mandatory for admission to LLB degree programs in Pakistani universities and institutions.

The last date to submit applications for the Law Admission Test is December 29, 2025. The test itself will be conducted on January 25, 2026. The HEC has encouraged aspiring law students to apply within the stipulated timelines and prepare adequately for the examination.
