ISLAMABAD: Rain and thunderstorms will hit several parts of Pakistan, including Islamabad, over the next 12 hours, the Meteorological Department said on Thursday.
The department said scattered showers are likely in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. In Punjab, rain is expected in Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Murree and Galiyat. Sindh districts including Sanghar, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Sibi, Badin and Thatta are also likely to receive showers.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the forecast calls for rain and thunderstorms in Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Kurram and Haripur. In Balochistan, Zhob, Musakhel, Barkhan, Lasbela and Khuzdar are expected to see rain, while most other districts will remain hot and dry.
Flood Situation
The Flood Forecasting Division reported severe flooding in rivers across the country.
In the Sutlej River, an exceptionally high flood surged at Ganda Singh Wala with an outflow of 319,295 cusecs. A high flood was recorded at Sulemanki with a flow of 132,000 cusecs, while Head Islam saw a medium-level flood with 95,727 cusecs.
In the Ravi River, a medium flood rose at Jassar with 82,140 cusecs. Shahdara recorded a high flood with 90,500 cusecs. At Balloki, both inflow and outflow stood at 118,520 cusecs, while Sadhnai registered 142,690 cusecs.
The Chenab River faced some of the worst conditions. A high flood surged at Marala with 250,838 cusecs, while Khanki and Qadirabad recorded very high floods. At Qadirabad, discharge swelled to 557,440 cusecs, and at Chiniot, the river rose to 433,000 cusecs.

At Head Trimmu, a medium flood continued with 265,837 cusecs, while Panjnad reported a low flood with an inflow of 169,030 cusecs and an outflow of 155,062 cusecs.
