PESHAWAR: As many as 14 more people lost their lives as torrential rains continued to wreak havoc in parts of the country.
According to details, heavy rains and strong wind battered parts of the Dera Ismail Khan city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killing 10 individuals and leaving 60 injured.
The district administration imposed an emergency and issued precautions for the masses following the natural disaster in Dera Ismail Khan and its suburbs.
The local sources informed that the rains and thunderstorm disrupted power supply, plunging the affected-localities in darkness. Roofs, solar panels, walls, trees and poles were taken down by the strong wind.
Meanwhile, torrential downpours caused severe urban flooding, submerging areas including Bhara Kahu and Athal Chowk areas of Islamabad. Rains and flash floods filled local streams and drains. Several vehicles were stranded at different locations of the capital city.
The spillways of Rawal Dam were opened after the heavy rain in Islamabad. Due to the heavy rain, hiking trails 2, 3, 4, and 5 in the Margalla Hills will remain closed, along with the trail located behind Saidpur Village.
Peshawar, Mardan, and North and South Waziristan received heavy rainfalls.

It is worth mentioning that the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a severe rainfall alert for most parts of the country, effective until August 30.
