TEHRAN: Heavy Bombardment Near Pakistan Embassy in Tehran, Ambassador and Staff Safe
Heavy bombardment was carried out near the Pakistani embassy and the ambassador’s residence in the Iranian capital Tehran on Thursday, according to diplomatic sources.
The Iranian army center “Artash” is located in front of the Pakistani embassy, while Pakistani Ambassador Mudassir Tipu resides in the Pasdaran area. Sources confirmed that heavy bombardment occurred in both areas at around 8 pm local time. However, the Pakistani embassy and the ambassador’s residence were not damaged.
Ambassador Mudassir Tipu is performing his duties as usual in Tehran along with approximately 20 diplomatic staff, sources added.
A senior diplomat told Geo News in an interview that heavy sounds of bombing were heard, and staff were “definitely disturbed” by the explosions. Nevertheless, all personnel are safe and continue to perform their duties in a challenging environment.
Authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the nature or source of the bombardment.
