QUETTA: As the temperatures soar in most parts of the country, several cities of Balochistan are also facing intense heatwave. The heatwave is not only creating problems to human health but also damaging the crops in the province.
The Balochistan Meteorological Department has predicted that Sibi is expected to record 47°C temperatures in the coming days. Turbat may reach 46°C, Lasbela 44°C, Nokundi 43°C, Dalbandin 41°C, and the provincial capital could face highs of up to 35°C.
Meteorological Department has issued heatwave alerts for different cities of Balochistan including Sibi, Kachhi, Sohbatpur, Lehri, Naseerabad, Jhal Magsi, Turbat, Lasbela, Washuk, Kharan, and Chaghi.
Khalid Hussain Bhat, Chairman of the Farmers’ Union, has said that the heatwave severely threatening agricultural productivity in Balochistan.
Bhat informed that wheat yields have dropped significantly to 20-25 maunds due to unpredictable weather in the province.

Similarly, the health experts has advised the citizens to avoid sun exposure and wear light-colored to cloths as rising temperatures could lead to heat-related illnesses.
