Anti-polio vaccine campaign to start tomorrow in Balochistan

DUKKI: In a significant push to bolster public health, a high-level team led by Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Naeem Khan conducted a comprehensive inspection of the ongoing Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccination campaign across various union councils in the district on Monday.

The delegation, which included World Health Organization (WHO) Coordinator Dr. Zarak Khan Achakzai and District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. Bahadur Khan Loni, oversaw the immunization activities on the ground. The officials closely monitored the efforts of health teams and emphasized the critical importance of ensuring that no child is left unprotected against these preventable diseases.

During the inspection, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Naeem Khan stressed that the success of the campaign hinges on community participation. He made a direct appeal to parents and guardians, urging them to fully cooperate with the health teams visiting their areas. “Vaccination is a safe and effective shield for our children,” he stated, underscoring that it is essential for a healthier future.

Dr. Zarak Khan Achakzai, the WHO Coordinator, reaffirmed the global health body’s steadfast commitment to supporting the provincial health department. He stated that WHO is dedicated to assisting in achieving the ambitious goal of 100% immunization coverage in the region, a target vital for eradicating the threat of measles and rubella.

To ensure the campaign’s efficiency, DHO Dr. Bahadur Khan Loni issued clear instructions to the field staff, directing them to maintain strict timelines and robust coordination. He emphasized the need for timely reporting to accurately track the campaign’s progress and address any challenges immediately. The unified message from the administration and health authorities is a concerted effort to maximize the reach of the vaccination drive and protect every child in Dukki from these dangerous diseases.

Meanwhile the inaugural Inter-Educational Institute Sports Festival 2025 kicked off with great enthusiasm at the Mir Abdul Ghafoor Kalmati Cricket Stadium, marking a significant initiative to promote sports and youth engagement in the region.
