QUETTA: The Hazara Democratic Party (HDP) solemnly commemorated the martyrs of the devastating January 10, 2013, attack and other innocent victims of targeted violence in Quetta on Wednesday, marking the 13th anniversary of the tragedy.
In a poignant statement, the party reflected that even after 13 years, the memories of the tragic events remain raw and vivid in the community’s consciousness. The HDP recalled that over this period, thousands of members of the Hazara community—including political leaders, dedicated workers, shopkeepers, and everyday citizens—have fallen victim to brutal acts of targeted violence, creating a deep-seated legacy of loss and resilience.
The party reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to its founding principles of promoting inter-faith harmony and tolerance among all communities in Balochistan. It pledged to continue safeguarding peace through sustained advocacy, political engagement, and peaceful demonstrations, emphasizing dialogue as the path forward. The HDP’s leadership stated that the best tribute to the martyrs is a persistent struggle for a just and peaceful society where all citizens can live without fear.
To honor the departed, special prayers and ceremonies were held for the elevation of the martyrs’ souls and for lasting peace, unity, and security across the province. The remembrance serves as a somber reminder of the enduring pain within the Hazara community while highlighting their continued determination for a peaceful future in Balochistan.
