ISLAMABAD: Fast bowler Haris Rauf, who currently in Austrlria for Big Bash League, will not be part of Pakistan’s 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, sources have confirmed.
According to sources, Pakistan’s head coach Mike Hesson has been opposed to Rauf’s inclusion since the Asia Cup 2025 final, and the pacer has not featured in a single T20 international for Pakistan since that tournament.
In the final, Haris Rauf had conceded 50 runs in 3.4 overs without taking a wicket. However in the mega tournament, Rauf had appeared in nine matches, took 14 wickets at an average of 16.64 with an economy rate of 7.68, and finished as one of the tournament’s most effective fast bowlers.
Rauf is currently in Australia, where he is playing in the Big Bash League (BBL), further limiting his availability for national selection discussions.
The decision marks a significant development for Pakistan’s World Cup plans, as Haris Rauf has been a regular feature of the national T20 setup in recent years and is regarded as one of the side’s most experienced fast bowlers in the shortest format.
