DHAKA: A hand grenade (or crude bomb) exploded at a polling station in Gopalganj district, Bangladesh.
According to Bangladeshi media reports, the explosion at the polling station in Gopalganj injured 3 people, who were immediately rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.
The blast caused partial damage to the main entrance of the polling station. Upon receiving the report, security forces and rescue teams promptly arrived at the scene.
It is worth noting that a recent public opinion survey regarding Bangladesh’s national parliamentary elections predicts a very tight contest between the alliance led by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and the alliance headed by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.
The survey indicates that the BNP-led alliance is likely to receive around 44.1% of the votes, while the 11-party alliance led by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami could secure approximately 43.9% of the votes.
