ISLAMABAD: The senior journalist Hamid Mir has once again drawn criticism for remarks seen as overlooking the nexus between terrorist groups Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC).
In this regard, one of the widely cited incidents is the 2016 attack on Quetta Civil Hospital following the bombing of the Jaffar Express. Furthermore, critics argue that Hamid Mir has attempted to shift the blame for internal rivalries and targeted killings among militant factions onto state institutions.
In his recent comments, Mir suggested that the killing of Mehrang Baloch’s father was linked to state actions rather than intra-group rivalries. Moreover, several analysts caution that the repetition of unverified claims regarding the state’s role risks lending credibility to hostile propaganda.
Meanwhile, media experts stress the importance of journalistic balance, noting that while human rights concerns in Balochistan deserve attention, they should not overshadow the undeniable fact that banned groups exploit such issues to advance their militant objectives.
