Gwadar water crisis nears end as key pipeline repair enters final stage

Fix Gwadar's main water pipeline

GWADAR: The project to fix Gwadar’s main water pipeline is in its final stages and is expected to be fully operational soon.

On a field visit, the Director General of the Gwadar Development Authority (GDA), Moeen-ur-Rehman Khan, inspected the key sites. Officials reported that the 83-kilometer pipeline from Shadi Kaur to Chor Dagar is almost completely restored.

Although a minor technical fault was found, it is expected to be repaired by tomorrow. Once fixed, the pipeline will significantly boost the city’s water supply and provide water to dozens more villages along its route.

Currently, Gwadar is receiving 3 to 3.2 million gallons of water daily through a complex process from Sod Dam. The dam currently holds a one-month water reserve.

The DG also visited local parks and directed officials to ensure they are safe and clean for public use.
