Gwadar Shipyard Land to be evaluated by third-party experts: DPM Ishaq Dar

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, directed a third-party professional evaluation of proposed sites for the Gwadar Shipyard project to ensure transparency and efficiency with local and national interests.

He was chairing a high-level meeting on the land allocation for the Gwadar Shipyard, the Deputy Prime Minister focused on the importance of consensus and collaboration with local stakeholders. In this sense, the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office, the meeting reviewed potential land sites, associated benefits, and economic implications of the shipyard. 

The DPM underlined the strategic importance of Gwadar as a future maritime and industrial hub, noting that the shipyard would not only contribute to national defence capabilities but also generate employment, attract investment, and support local economic growth.

The Gwadar Shipyard project is seen as a major initiative under Pakistan’s efforts to increase its maritime infrastructure and regional connectivity.

The meeting was attended by Chief Minister of Balochistan, Federal Ministers for Defence Production, Planning and Development, and Maritime Affairs, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, Secretary of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Member Provincial Assembly Hidayatullah, and Chairman of the Gwadar Port Authority.
