Gwadar Hospital, Indus Network Launch Breast Cancer Awareness Drive

GWADAR:  To mark World Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the GDA Pak China Friendship Hospital in Gwadar has launched a public awareness campaign for women, emphasizing the critical importance of timely diagnosis and treatment. The session was organized by the Indus Hospital and Health Network (IHHN).

During the event, Dr. Farida Oghan Shah reassured attendees that breast cancer is a curable disease, particularly when it is diagnosed early . She emphasized the importance of screening methods, including self-examination and mammography, as key tools for early detection.

The session aligns with a global effort to highlight that every breast cancer journey is unique and deserves compassionate, timely, and quality care . In Pakistan, where breast cancer rates are the highest in Asia, with one in nine women affected in their lifetime, such awareness initiatives are especially crucial .

To ensure the message reaches a wider audience, awareness pamphlets were distributed to participants. The hospital administration concluded the event by reaffirming its commitment to public health, vowing to continue such informative sessions in the future.
