Gun Attack on Peace Committee in Bannu Kills Four

BANNU: Gunmen opened fire on members of a peace committee in Pakistan’s northwestern city of Bannu on Tuesday, killing four people, police said.

The attack took place in the Huwaid area, where armed assailants ambushed peace committee members as they were returning from a jirga in the Gulbadin Landai Dak area.

Police said the attackers fired indiscriminately, killing four people at the scene.

The dead included a father and his son, according to police.

Security forces sealed off the area after the attack and launched a search operation to track down the assailants.

Authorities shifted the bodies to the District Headquarters Hospital in Bannu.
