Great news for employees: Decision to add another allowance to salary

Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) has approved a significant financial relief package for employees working at grid stations, marking an important step toward recognizing the risks faced by field staff. The decision was taken during a meeting of the PESCO Board and has been implemented with immediate effect.

Under the approved measure, eligible grid station employees will receive a monthly danger allowance of Rs7,000. The allowance is specifically aimed at employees who perform their duties in high-risk environments and are routinely exposed to electrical hazards while ensuring uninterrupted power supply.

The report has been issued by PESCO, the allowance will be granted to staff members directly involved in operational and technical work at grid stations. These include Sub Station Operators (SSOs), fitters, test inspectors, and helpers who work on the front lines of electricity transmission and distribution.

The board discussed the proposal in detail before unanimously approving the allowance. Officials acknowledged that grid station employees operate under challenging and potentially dangerous conditions on a daily basis. The nature of their work exposes them to serious electrical risks, making additional financial compensation both necessary and justified.

PESCO management stated that the primary objective of the danger allowance is to motivate employees and provide them with enhanced financial security. The allowance is expected to help staff perform their duties with greater confidence while reinforcing the organization’s commitment to employee welfare and safety.

Officials further clarified that all eligible employees currently posted at grid stations will benefit from this decision. The allowance will be disbursed on a monthly basis as part of the employees’ regular compensation.

The move has been welcomed as a positive development for field staff, many of whom have long demanded additional compensation in view of the hazardous nature of their responsibilities. Observers believe the decision will help address longstanding concerns related to employee welfare and job-related risks.
