The government have successfully facilitated the permanent suspension of a controversial Afghan social media account known as ‘’Ahsan Agha’’ through cooperation with the platform X.
The account which had gained notoriety for repeatedly sharing content described by officials as misleading, inflammatory, and hostile toward Pakistan, had long been under monitoring by relevant institutions.
The account “Ahsan Agha” had been active for several years and was followed by a significant audience. Its content frequently targeted institutions, security agencies, and foreign policy, often using unverified claims and provocative language.
Digital security experts welcomed the suspension, describing it as a positive move toward promoting responsible online discourse. They noted that unchecked propaganda on social media platforms can contribute to polarization, diplomatic tensions, and public mistrust.
The suspension comes amid growing global scrutiny of online misinformation and the role of social media platforms in managing harmful content. Governments worldwide are urging technology companies to take stronger action against accounts involved in propaganda and disinformation.
