QUETTA: The government has strongly refuted recent claims regarding the alleged torture of Dr. Mahrang Baloch, stating that the accusations are entirely baseless and an attempt to malign the state.
Dr. Baloch, who was taken into custody during a protest earlier the previous month, is being treated according to legal protocols and is not facing any mistreatment.
Dr. Mahrang Baloch, a prominent figure and the head of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), was arrested following a demonstration where several protestors, including herself, were allegedly involved in damaging government property whereas the law enforcement sources said the protest turned violent, resulting in arrests to maintain public order and protect state assets.

Furthermore, these reports began surfacing after certain individuals, including anonymous sources within the Balochistan security apparatus, claimed that Dr. Baloch was being tortured while in custody. However, no verifiable evidence has been provided to substantiate these claims.
The BYC, under Dr. Baloch’s leadership, has gained prominence in recent years for its criticism of state policies in Balochistan. However, authorities argue that some of the movement’s activities have drifted into controversial and anti-state rhetoric.
The government reasserted its commitment to the rule of law and due process, assuring that Dr. Baloch’s legal rights are fully protected.
Similarly, authorities called upon the media and public to rely on verified facts and avoid amplifying unsubstantiated reports that may jeopardize national harmony.
