QUETTA: Acting Governor Ghazala Gola has underscored that unlocking the full potential of Pakistan’s women is contingent on providing equal opportunities and facilities, stating that only then can the nation harness the capabilities of half its population for collective betterment.
Speaking during a meeting with Secretary of Women Development, Saira Atta, at the Governor House, Gola highlighted the specific challenges faced by women in Balochistan. She asserted that the women of the province are “no less intelligent and capable” than those in other regions, but their progress is significantly hampered by poverty and a critical lack of necessary facilities.
“Lack of opportunities actually prevents our women from reaching their full potential,” Gola stated, identifying this as a primary barrier to development.
Outlining the government’s commitment, the Acting Governor affirmed that concrete steps are being taken for the holistic development of all women in Balochistan. The focus, she noted, is on creating new educational and employment opportunities to pave the way for greater economic participation and empowerment.
Gola expressed satisfaction that women are already proving their mettle across all sectors. She emphasized the transformative power of economic independence, stating, “It is certain that an economically independent woman can play a key role in achieving her rights and powers and those of other women.”
The meeting served as a platform to discuss strategies for advancing women’s development initiatives in the province. Earlier, Secretary Saira Atta congratulated Ghazala Gola on assuming the responsibilities of Acting Governor.
The discussion reinforces the provincial administration’s stated priority to address systemic barriers and invest in programs aimed at empowering Balochistan’s women, framing their economic and social advancement as fundamental to the province’s progress.
