Government's role is legislation, courts may rectify: Bugti

QUETTA :  Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti stated that the government’s primary responsibility is to legislate, and if the courts find any faults in the laws, they have the authority to address and correct them.

Speaking to journalists after the Balochistan Assembly session, he assured that despite the closure of the Pakistan-Iran border, there will be no shortage of food or other essential supplies in the province.

He refrained from commenting on remarks made by senior politician Jan Jamali, saying, “He is our senior, and I won’t respond to his statements.”

The Chief Minister emphasized that the government believes amendments to the anti-terrorism law will help resolve issues related to missing persons and law and order in Balochistan. “If someone criticizes this, that is their prerogative,” he added.

Bugti further stated that elected representatives are seated in the Balochistan Assembly, and it is within the Assembly’s authority to approve or reject the budget.
