ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a reduction in the prices of petroleum products.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that he had made a promise to pass on the benefit to the public as soon as global oil prices decreased.
The Prime Minister announced a significant reduction of Rs135 per litre in the price of diesel. As a result, the price of diesel has been reduced from Rs520 to Rs385 per litre.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reduced the price of petrol by Rs12 per litre.
The new price of petrol is now Rs366 per litre.
Addressing the nation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described the moment as historic.
“I am speaking to the nation at a history-making moment,” he said.
The Prime Minister thanked the American leadership for their efforts and stated that the Gulf region is now witnessing talks of peace instead of war.
“Today, both sides have agreed to a ceasefire and have shown willingness to engage in negotiations. On Pakistan’s sincere invitation, the leadership of both countries is coming to Islamabad,” he added.
PM Shehbaz Sharif further said that the honor Allah has bestowed upon Pakistan is a matter of pride for the entire Muslim world. He expressed gratitude to both sides for accepting Pakistan’s invitation for the talks.
He paid rich tribute to Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir, saying he played a pivotal role in extinguishing the flames of war. “I salute him and his team from the bottom of my heart,” the Prime Minister said.
He also thanked Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar for their contributions.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif concluded by saying, “I pray for the success of the negotiations.”
Addressing the nation on television, PM Shehbaz Sharif said that global petroleum prices had risen sharply during the recent war, which increased difficulties for the common man. He added that the government made every effort to shield the public from the full impact of the international price hike and absorbed a burden of Rs127 billion itself.
