Gold price surges by Rs 10,000 per tola

ISLAMABAD: Gold prices witnessed a major surge across Pakistan. According to the All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Association, the price of gold per tola increased by Rs 10,000, bringing the new per tola rate to Rs 437,936.

Similarly, the price of 10 grams of gold rose by Rs 8,573, setting the new rate at Rs 375,459.

Evolution of Gold Prices in Pakistan Since 2025

Since the beginning of 2025, the gold market in Pakistan has experienced an unprecedented and historic bull run, driven heavily by soaring international metal rates, persistent domestic inflation, and currency dynamics.

At the start of 2025, local per tola rates hovered significantly lower, but continuous economic uncertainties, aggressive global central bank reserves accumulation, and safe-haven investment trends pushed bullion values aggressively upward.

By the closing months of 2025, 24-karat gold crossed major milestones, climbing past Rs. 450,000 per tola amidst strong domestic retail and wedding season demands.

As the market transitioned into 2026, the upward trajectory persisted due to fluctuating global spot prices crossing historic thresholds—frequently trading well past the $4,000 per ounce marker.

Consequently, local rates in Pakistan have continued to scale new heights, comfortably staying above the Rs. 430,000 to Rs. 450,000 threshold per tola depending on daily market shifts.

While this massive appreciation has heavily compressed traditional jewelry purchasing power for local households, it has reinforced gold’s reputation as the ultimate hedge against currency devaluation and economic volatility for Pakistani investors.
