Pakistan delivers a swift response to Afghanistan’s hostility

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Minister of Information has released the latest official casualty figures and operational achievements in the ongoing cross-border military response, Operation Ghazb Lil Haq, confirming heavy losses on the Afghan Taliban regime.

In a detailed update issued at 2:00 AM on Friday, 27 February 2026, the minister confirmed that Pakistani counter-attacks have inflicted significant damage on militant infrastructure and personnel.

According to the official statement, at least 72 operatives of the Afghan Taliban regime have been killed, with more than 120 others injured in the ongoing offensive. The figures represent a significant escalation from earlier unconfirmed reports.

The update further detailed territorial gains made by Pakistani forces. A total of 16 posts belonging to the Afghan Taliban regime have been destroyed, while an additional 7 posts have been captured and are now under Pakistani control.

In a major blow to the militant group’s military capabilities, the official statement confirmed the destruction of a key ammunition depot, a battalion headquarters, and a sector headquarters belonging to the Afghan Taliban regime. Furthermore, more than 36 tanks, artillery guns, and Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs) were destroyed in the effective counter-attacks.

“More counter-attacks are underway. Every aggression will be fought resolutely,” the Minister of Information stated, underscoring the government’s commitment to responding forcefully to any cross-border violations.

The operation, now formally named Ghazb Lil Haq, was launched in response to what Islamabad describes as unprovoked shelling on Pakistani civilian settlements. With official figures confirming over 70 casualties on the Afghan side and significant territorial gains, the operation marks one of the most intense military responses by Pakistan in recent years.
