PESHAWAR: The death toll in Pakistan’s ongoing military offensive, Operation Ghazab Lil Haq, has risen sharply, with security sources reporting that at least 58 Afghans have been killed and over 100 injured in the latest phase of retaliatory strikes.
According to an operational update received at 0120 hours on February 27, 2026, Pakistani forces have inflicted heavy damage on Taliban military infrastructure across the border in a series of “effective counter-attacks.”
Security sources confirmed that 12 militant posts have been completely destroyed, while Pakistani forces have successfully captured and now control five additional Afghan posts. The territorial gains mark a significant tactical shift in the ongoing operation.
In a major blow to militant logistics, a large ammunition depot was completely destroyed in the strikes. Furthermore, security sources confirmed that three Afghan battalions, along with their sector headquarters, have been “completely wiped out.”
The equipment losses on the Afghan side are described as severe. According to security sources, more than 30 tanks, artillery guns, and Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs) were destroyed in the effective counter-attacks.
“Further counter-attacks continue with intensity,” a security source confirmed, indicating that the operation is far from over and that Pakistani forces are pressing their advantage along the border.
The development marks a major escalation in what began as a response to unprovoked shelling on Pakistani civilian settlements. With territorial gains now being made and three full battalions neutralized, Operation Ghazab Lil Haq appears to have entered a more aggressive and expansive phase.
