General Asim Munir Promoted to Field Marshal for Strategic Excellence

ISLAMABAD: Army Chief General Asim Munir has been promoted to the prestigious rank of Field Marshal, becoming the second officer in Pakistan’s history to hold this title after General Ayub Khan. The decision was made during a high-level federal cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, where several key national security matters were discussed.

General Munir’s elevation comes in recognition of his exceptional leadership and strategic brilliance during Operation Bunyan Al Marsous.

The rank of Field Marshal is the highest in Pakistan’s armed forces, symbolizing unmatched military distinction. In addition, the government has decided to extend the tenure of Air Marshal Zaheer Babar.

Those who embraced martyrdom or demonstrated extraordinary performance during the operation will be honored with the country’s highest civilian awards.
