Gwadar Development Authority expands civic and recreational facilities in port city

GWADAR: The Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) has introduced new recreational and leisure opportunities for residents and visitors by establishing cafes, food points, and public facilities at Marine Drive, Padi Zar Park, and Model Beach Park.

The prominent initiatives included the Balochistan Insight Café, managed by women entrepreneurs, has gained particular attention for promoting both social engagement and economic empowerment in the city.

In this regard, Director General of the GDA, Moin-ur-Rehman Khan, recently undertook a comprehensive inspection of several ongoing infrastructure and civic development projects across Gwadar.

He was accompanied by Chief Engineer Haji Syed Muhammad and other senior officials during the visit.

In this sense, the inspection covered a wide range of projects aimed at improving connectivity, urban amenities, and community facilities.

Moreover, the key sites included the Shabi causeway on Marine Drive, ongoing road construction works, the expansion of Dam-e-Zar Road, and the Makki Mosque–Mulla Fazil Chowk corridor.

The visit also extended to the sewerage treatment plant, public parks, the GDA workshop, the proposed Jant Bazaar, and the Suragdill ground.

Meanwhile, the GDA chairman received detailed briefings from project engineers and contractors regarding progress and challenges. He focused on the significance of quality and timely delivery, the Director General directed all teams to maintain the highest standards of construction and design.

He mentioned that these projects are funded through public resources and therefore require strict adherence to principles of transparency, accountability, and community benefit.

In addition, the establishment of new food outlets and cafes along Gwadar’s scenic coastal stretches is also being seen as a step toward attracting domestic and international tourists, while providing safe and accessible spaces for families and youth.

The involvement of women-led enterprises, such as the Balochistan Insight Café, indicates the Authority’s focus on inclusive development and community participation.
