KHUZDAR: The dangerous outbreak of gastroenteritis has struck the Kakahir area of Tehsil Wadh in Khuzdar district, affecting at least 133 people and causing widespread panic among residents.
The affected individuals have been exhibiting symptoms of acute diarrhea, vomiting, dehydration, and weakness. Most of the patients have been shifted to local hospitals and temporary emergency centers for urgent medical attention.
The outbreak is believed to have been caused by the consumption of contaminated water, especially after recent heavy rains in the region.
The district administration and the provincial health department have launched immediate relief efforts. In this sense, mobile medical teams and emergency health units have been dispatched to Kakahir to provide on-site treatment and monitor the situation.

The outbreak has once again exposed the fragility of healthcare infrastructure in remote areas of Balochistan. In addition, despite repeated warnings by medical professionals and community leaders, the lack of clean water and proper waste management has continued to pose a grave risk to public health.
