Gas leakage incidents remain a persistent and deadly problem across Pakistan, claiming lives every year in both urban and rural areas.
Most fatalities occur due to faulty gas pipelines, unsafe LPG cylinders, poor ventilation, and the improper use of gas heaters, especially during winter.
Residential suffocation cases, sudden explosions, and fires caused by accumulated gas are frequently reported, often resulting in the deaths of entire families while they are asleep.
Industrial units, factories, and gas tankers have also been involved in major accidents, leading to large-scale casualties and injuries.
Weak safety enforcement, illegal connections, aging infrastructure, and lack of public awareness significantly contribute to these tragedies.
Experts repeatedly stress the need for regular safety inspections, public education on gas usage, timely maintenance of pipelines, and stricter regulation to prevent further loss of life from avoidable gas.
