SADIQABAD: A notorious dacoit carrying a bounty of one crore rupees, Miral Lathani, has surrendered along with his accomplices Fida Lathani and Zulfi Lathani.
The surrender took place during an ongoing police operation in the Kacha area of Sadiqabad, where law enforcement agencies had intensified action against criminal elements.
According to police sources, intelligence-based targeted operations were being carried out under the leadership of the District Police Officer.
As the security forces tightened the noose, Miral Lathani and his associates laid down their arms and surrendered.
The wanted criminal was involved in multiple serious offences, including murder, attacks on police personnel, and kidnapping, and the government had earlier announced a reward of one crore rupees for his capture.
DPO Irfan Ali Samoon stated that individuals who abandon violence and choose a peaceful path are welcome.
He added that those who surrender will be given a fair opportunity to rebuild their lives and reintegrate into society.
Robbers in Sindh, particularly those operating in riverine and remote areas, have long posed serious challenges to law enforcement and local communities.
These criminal groups are often involved in activities such as robbery, kidnapping for ransom, attacks on police, and smuggling, taking advantage of difficult terrain and limited access to state authority.
Their presence creates fear among residents, disrupts daily life, and negatively impacts economic activities in affected regions.
In recent years, the Sindh government and police have increased intelligence-based operations to dismantle these networks, focusing on targeted actions, arrests, and encouraging surrender through rehabilitation policies.
While progress has been made in some areas, the issue remains complex, requiring sustained law enforcement efforts, better governance, and development initiatives to address the root causes that allow such criminal elements to thrive.
