Rawalpindi: The funeral prayer of Major Adnan Aslam Shaheed was offered at Chaklala, attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Defence Minister, the Information Minister, Army Chief General Asim Munir, senior civil and military officials, and the martyr’s family members.
According to ISPR, Major Adnan was critically injured on September 2 in a cowardly attack by Khawarij militants in Bannu.
He was under treatment at CMH Rawalpindi, where he embraced martyrdom during medical care.
Major Adnan displayed exemplary courage and leadership against the enemy and will be laid to rest with full military honors in his native town.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid rich tribute to his bravery and sacrifice, stating that the nation has lost a valiant son of the soil.
He added that Major Adnan’s sacrifice will forever remain alive in the hearts of the people, symbolizing love for the motherland, unwavering resolve, and the spirit of sacrifice.
The Prime Minister affirmed that his martyrdom is proof of the armed forces’ firm commitment to eliminating terrorism.
the footage, widely shared on social media, shows Major Adnan rushing to protect his injured comrade, Major Saad, during an intense exchange of fire with militants belonging to the India-backed Fitna-al-Khwarij group.
Despite being critically wounded, Major Adnan positioned himself between his colleague and the attackers, ensuring that Major Saad received cover while reinforcements countered the assault.
The attack began when militants rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the FC compound, triggering a fierce gun battle that lasted nearly 10 hours.
Furthermore, the witnesses from within the compound described the intensity of the clash, noting how officers and troops fought back valiantly despite sustained fire and explosions.
It was during these critical moments that Major Adnan’s act of bravery stood out.
