From Pahalgam to Balochistan: India supports BYC and BLA

ISLAMABAD: After the Pahalgam attack, the Indian government has taken oppressive steps against the Kashmiri people in Kashmir Valley; Indian armed forces demolished the home of Asif Sheikh, a Kashmiri civilian. The operation’s findings also highlight the role of certain so-called human rights activists who allegedly provide ideological and logistical cover to such militant groups. In this regard, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), currently led by Mahrang Baloch, whose public activities and affiliations have raised serious questions.

In this sense, this act has created outrage in several quarters, though global rights groups remain largely unresponsive.

It has become increasingly evident, analysts argue, that selective activism is enabling India’s oppressive measures in Kashmir, while simultaneously lending undue credibility to separatist narratives in Pakistan.

Furthermore, as per the sources within the security establishment, this intelligence-led operation exposed coordinated links between the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), both proscribed militant groups, and foreign agencies, primarily India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).

Officials claim BYC is being used as a political face to lend legitimacy to the narratives of separatist outfits, while undermining national unity under the guise of rights activism.

On the other hand, Pakistan’s response to separatist and militant activities remains rooted in intelligence, legal scrutiny, and strategic containment.

Meanwhile, the local media, however, has faced criticism for portraying individuals associated with radical groups as victims, while often ignoring the broader context of national security.

In such a case, senior security officials focus on the need for media responsibility, stating that the glorification of anti-state actors, intentionally or otherwise, only serves the narrative of Pakistan’s enemies.
