TEHRAN: A new wave of protests has erupted in Iran, with university students leading demonstrations against the government, according to international media reports.
The rallies entered their second and third days on campuses including the University of Tehran, Amirkabir University of Technology, and Sharif University of Technology. Students poured into the streets and chanted slogans against Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and the Iranian government.
Protesters waved the pre-1979 Iranian flag bearing the lion and sun emblem. They use the symbol as a sign of opposition to the current system established after the Islamic Revolution.
Students spearheaded the demonstrations, framing them as a broader political movement. In several locations, clashes broke out between protesters and security forces.
Demonstrators chanted, “We do not want this government,” signaling growing anger among young people.

The latest unrest follows large-scale protests last month. Authorities responded with a sweeping crackdown. Rights groups reported hundreds killed and thousands arrested during those demonstrations.
