RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s security forces said it killed four Indian-backed militants during an intelligence-based operation in Kalat district of Balochistan.
A statement released by the Pakistan’s military media affairs wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), on Tuesday said that the operation was conducted on the night of November 1 following reports of the presence of militants linked to Fitna al Hindustan, an Indian proxy group.
Security forces engaged the militants’ hideout and “sent four Indian-sponsored terrorists to hell,” the ISPR said. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the site.
The militants were reportedly involved in multiple terrorist attacks in the region.
Sanitisation operations are continuing in the area to eliminate any remaining militants, it stated.
The ISPR added that security forces and law enforcement agencies remain fully committed to pursuing the ongoing counterterrorism campaign Azm-e-Istehkam, approved under the National Action Plan, to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from Pakistan.
Meanwhile, security forces have killed two senior commanders of banned militant outfits, the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), in separate intelligence-based operations along the Pakistan-Iran border, officials confirmed on Tuesday.
According to security sources, BLA commander Behroz, the deputy leader of the outfit’s Bahram Group, was killed during a covert operation in the border region.
In a separate action, security forces neutralised Abdul Khaliq, also known by his alias Wado, a key commander of the BLF and the group’s financial coordinator overseeing drug-funded revenue streams.
