Lahore: Residents of the provincial capital are set to enjoy a long weekend during the first week of February for the Basant Festival.
According to sources, four consecutive holidays are expected in Lahore for Basant.
Details indicate that Thursday, February 5, has already been declared a public holiday for Kashmir Day.
Saturday and Sunday are regular weekly holidays, and the administration is now seriously considering declaring Friday a holiday as well.
If Friday is also declared a public holiday, Lahore will effectively get four consecutive days off (Thursday to Sunday).
Officials say the purpose of announcing these extended holidays is to make the Basant celebrations memorable and safe.
The additional holidays are expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion in the city and minimize the number of motorcycles on the roads.
It is worth noting that the official dates for Basant celebrations in Lahore have been announced as February 6, 7, and 8.
