Four BLA operatives with RAW links arrested in Karachi, Quetta, and Gwadar

KARACHI: Security forces have arrested four individuals, Kashif, Ali Asghar Qambarani, Sherbaz Baloch, and Shonas, who were declared missing earlier.

According to security sources, between July 29 and August 2, security agencies arrested four individuals from different areas of Karachi, Quetta and Gwadar. The initial investigations revealed that all four were active members of a secret technology cell of the Indian-funded banned terrorist group Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA). The arrests were carried out through well-coordinated intelligence-led operations.

The Counter Communication team raided Aman Tower in the busy Saddar area of Karachi on July 29 and arrested Kashif as he resisted arrest and attempted to fire a handheld Glock. Forces also recovered a Thuraya satellite phone from his possession.

Similarly, on July 31, Ali Asghar Qambarani and Sherbaz Baloch were arrested from their homes in Killi Qambarani area of provincial capital of Balochistan.

The most dangerous operation took place on August 2 in Gwadar’s rural Padraak area, where Shonas tried to attack security forces with a grenade but was captured. A GPS tracker was seized from him, reportedly used to mark secret locations.

The recent arrest and raids disrupted RAW’s communication network and exposed the BLA’s covert tech cell. Investigations traced funding to “New Coast Trade Link,” a front company registered in Gujarat, India, funneling money through Dubai to the Asia Charity Fund, a channel previously linked to the 2024 Khuzdar bombings.

Security sources indicate three more suspects are under surveillance, including a lecturer at a well-known Karachi university. Authorities remain vigilant against BLA’s evolving strategy of deploying sleeper agents equipped with technology within civilian circles.
