LAKKI MARWAT: The security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa continues to deteriorate. The Fitna Al Khawarij has accelerated its campaign of violence, targeting innocent civilians, security forces, and police personnel in recent days. In this sense, a former soldier of the Pakistan Army, 55-year-old Habibullah Khan, was shot dead by a group of seven armed militants near a rainwater course in the Ghazikhel area.
The attackers intercepted him while he was travelling on foot and opened fire without warning.
In this regard, the residents of the area expressed grief and outrage over the killing, describing Habibullah Khan as a respected figure and a patriotic individual who had served the country with honour during his military career.
Furthermore, a separate incident on the same day, two Pakistan Army soldiers sustained injuries when their military vehicle was targeted with an improvised explosive device (IED) near Abdulkhel. The explosion caused significant damage to the vehicle, and the injured personnel were shifted to a nearby military hospital for medical treatment.
So far, law enforcement agencies have increased patrolling and search operations across volatile areas of the province.

Meanwhile, the KP, particularly its tribal belt and adjoining mountainous areas, has witnessed a surge in militant attacks in recent months.
