Former PM Nawaz Sharif departs for London again

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif departed for London on Saturday. He left from Lahore Airport, travelling via an international airline.

Sources say the former premier’s trip is primarily for a routine medical check-up. He is expected to stay in London for approximately two weeks.

Sharif was seen off at the airport by close aides and family members.

Political circles have speculated on the timing of his departure, but sources emphasize that the trip is solely for health reasons and carries no political agenda.

Earlier this week, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif attended the National Assembly session to cast his vote in favour of the 27th Constitutional Amendmentt. During his visit to Islamabad, he also visited late Senator Irfan Siddique house where he offered condolence to his family.

Speaking on a TV show, Asif said the Afghan Taliban regime had formally condemned the recent Islamabad suicide attack “only to later claim they had denounced it.” He warned that mediators in peace talks should also expect a response from Pakistan, revealing that security forces recently foiled a major attack at Wana Cadet College that could have been “bigger than the Army Public School tragedy.”
