Foreign Companies Stay Confident in Pakistan, Exit Claims Baseless: SECP

ISLAMABAD: The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has dismissed claims of a large-scale exit of foreign companies from the country, clarifying that only 19 foreign firms closed operations between 2022 and 2025.

During the same period, 79 new foreign companies were registered in Pakistan.

Media reports claiming that 125 companies left Pakistan are based on cumulative data since 1977, not the last three years, the SECP said.

Foreign investment trends also remain positive. Last month, 82 local companies received investment from countries including China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, Turkey, South Korea, Spain, and others.

As of February 2026, the SECP has 1,157 registered foreign companies operating in Pakistan, signaling ongoing international business presence and investor confidence.
