MUZAFFARABAD: Torrential rains, glacier bursts, and flash floods killed at least 17 people in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Dozens more suffered injuries.
In GB’s Ghizer district, floodwaters killed eight people.
Two more died in Diamer.
Hunza, Nagar, and Skardu lost dozens of houses and government buildings.
Floods washed away crops and blocked key roads, including the Karakoram Highway, Babusar Road, and Gilgit–Skardu Road.
In AJK’s Muzaffarabad district, heavy rains and a cloudburst killed seven people, including six from the same family, in Sarli Sacha.
In Neelum Valley, floods swept away several houses and two bridges.
Hundreds of tourists were stranded in Ratti Gali; rescuers have saved 100 so far.
