Flood threat in Balochistan subsides

QUETTA: The risk of flooding in Balochistan has diminished as water levels in the Indus River continue to fall.

Commissioner Nasirabad Division, Salahuddin Noorzai, stated that areas including Jaffarabad and Usta Muhammad remain safe, while a water flow of 400,000 cusecs is currently passing from Panjnad towards Guddu Barrage.

Speaking to Samaa, Commissioner Noorzai assured that the situation in Jaffarabad, Usta Muhammad, and surrounding regions is fully under control, and with the end of the monsoon’s final spell, the likelihood of flooding has significantly reduced.

However, he cautioned that the mountainous regions of Dera Bugti still face potential risks due to ongoing rainfall.

He further noted that authorities are in continuous coordination with the Sindh government, while official teams are fully prepared to handle any emergency, with all necessary arrangements already in place.

Meanwhile  The weather department has forecasted heavy rains in Balochistan from 7th to 9th September.

According to the report for weather department, rainfall is expected in Barkhan, Musa Khel, Loralai, Zhob, Naseer Abad, Bolan, Dera Bugti, Kohlu, Kalat, Khuzdar and Lasbela.

The weather department has given threats about the floods in the rainwater streams.

All the rescue departments are on the high alert at the moment.

The provincial government has asked the district administrations to keep all the machinery and the necessary stand to.
